Sqecial Media has been a part of my Lexington life since high school. I could spend an entire day once upon a time browsing records at Bear’s Wax, picking out beads at Paisley Peacock, and combing the shelves at Sqecial.
A new grocery has opened where Winn-Dixie vacated years ago in the shopping center at Virginia and South Broadway. Lucky’s Market is billing itself as the promise of access to organic groceries without the hefty price that makes it unaffordable for many. Continue reading “Lucky’s Market”

Pleasantly surprised at the efficiency of road construction for once in my life, I traveled the newly opened Alumni Road connector between Tates Creek Road and Nicholasville Road this morning. This will be a pleasant drive of your daily commute with traffic moving steadily in a one-lane winding path with the arboretum on one side and the coliseum on the other. The Alumni Drive construction is in full swing. The street is closed between Nicholasville Road and Tates Creek Road through project completion. According to an email sent out to the UK community from Eric N. Monday, Executive VP, Finance & Administration, construction will be complete by the end of August. The Children’s Garden at the University of Kentucky Arboretum is missing some prime opportunities being closed when school is out for Election Day. It’s bad enough that we have to pay to go into the area but to be closed when school is out?!
