I hate going out to Fayette Mall. Nicholasville Road traffic is the absolute worst. But when you have the imbibing of English and Scottish beer on tap and indulging in some Kentuckized-English food as your goal, there is no better place to go.
The Pub calls itself the “true British Pub experience” which makes me giggle a bit. The walls are covered in pictures of British royals, flags, train stations, etc. The dark wood and stools are reminiscent of bars in London but it’s open and spacious, not what I remember. I’m not picky though, I just want a Boddingtons. Just look at that beautiful cascade. The more I drink, the prettier this scene becomes.
They have dozens of beers on tap and in the bottle. I always get a Boddingtons and a Smithwick’s. They’ve also got Old Speckled Hen, Belhaven Scottish Ale, Guinness, and Tennent’s. Traveling to beer on this side of the pond, I enjoy Breckinridge Vanilla Porter and the rotating tap from Sam Adams.
So, yes, I eat food too. I know a lot of my recent posts have been focused on beer…
I get a bunch of different dishes but my favorites are the gouda bowl with buffalo chicken and the tuna tacos. I also like the burgers, fish and chips, broiled fish sandwich, and when I’m really trying to channel my inner-English, the bangers and mash.
I’ve enjoyed trivia night and nights with live music. Check their schedule to know what to expect if you’re concerned about such things.
Happy Hour is Monday thru Friday 3-7 and 9-close with appetizer and drink specials. Join their email club and get deals for your birthday, something I used for my last visit.
They’ve got really great staff. Their bartenders know their stuff and never leave you with less than a few sips in your beer. Servers are great too, Brandon, I’m looking at you.
And just to make it official, since I ask every time I’m there: bring back the Belhaven Stout, pretty please!
