Many of you may remember the famous mortal and pestle building that is located on Village Drive in Lexington’s Cardinal Valley neighborhood. The unique building was constructed back in 1974, representing the old school pharmacy with drive-up window.
Times have changed though for the independent pharmacist. The business closed in 2011 and reopened soon after as a liquor store. In trying to figure out how to take advantage of the sui generis presentation of the building, the new owners changed the mortal and pestle to the always necessary martini glass with olive. Still distinctive but a definitely different flavor.
